Many of these pieces were suggested to me by people who have bought my books and wanted to play these particular pieces and couldn’t find settings to them anywhere, and others are pieces that I researched and fell in love with. The one thing they have in common is that they are all wonderful pieces. There are many by Neidhart von Reuernthal who wrote one of my favorite melodies, “Winder wie ist.” He was in my thinking, about the best composer I have heard from the Medieval period. But there are others and my customers and I have picked the good ones. There are plenty of addictive pieces in this collection, and a couple of other surprises, like the piece “Finale” which is another one of my very favorite pieces. The CD is double tracked so you can turn either instrument down with the balance control. The guitar that accompanies the mandolin is playing very simple parts which go especially well with Medieval Music, and I have notated those patterns at the end of each piece so one can accompany the pieces on either the guitar or mandolin.
