I A Virtuoso, according to the Merriam Webster dictionary, is
One who excels in the technique of an art; especially : a
highly skilled musical performer and the more common idea seems
to be one that can always play at blazing speed. A performance of
this type seems more to me like an athletic event. The reaction is
Wow, did you see that, he or she is just amazing.
For me though, its about the music, not the performer. I would
rather hear that the music is the thing that people love. I do
believe the musician should be invisible and the music should be the
center of attention.
There is no connection of the quality of a piece of music to its difficulty. More than once I have had this driven home to me when there was something I wanted to play very much, only to find out it wasnt difficult to play the notes. But perhaps it was difficult to make it really sing.
I hope in this book you will find beauty in all the included music.
